The Wildside health center is a full service veterinary mobile practice Dedicated to Avian and Exotic Pets ONLY

We are happy to welcome you to the Wildside!

If you are an animal lover like we are, you came to the right place!

Here at the Wildside we believe all feathery, fury and scaly pets deserve the best veterinary care!

We are a full service mobile veterinary practice for avian and exotic pets! We also offer consulting visits to private collections, zoos, aquariums and sanctuaries.

Make an appointment

We currently serve from Broward County up to St. Lucie County, but we may also do accept appointments in our extended service area (contact us directly if you would like to know if we can travel to your location).

You may be wondering, isn’t mobile services expensive? Actually, you’ll likely be surprised at how affordable mobile care can be! Our exam and travel fees are by nature higher than traditional clinics due to travel time and extra time devoted to each pet, but our other services are typically comparable to other local clinics.

Do you have more questions? You may be able to find most answers in this website! This website is a way to assist our new and existing clients with their pet needs, and we also have many client handouts to help with your avian and exotic animal pet education.

We are sorry, but at this time we do not offer veterinary care to: pigs, small ruminants, venomous reptiles, and camelids.

  • 🐒 One of our patients enjoying a well balanced diet!
🐒 This is a gopher tortoise (legally approved to live in a sanctuary).
🐒They are considered a keystone species because they dig burrows that provide shelter for other animals.
🐒In Florida, the gopher tortoise is listed as Threatened. Both the tortoise and its burrow are protected under state law.
🐒 It's always a pleasure to help care for them!

  • πŸ‡ Have you ever wondered where we collect blood from rabbits?
πŸ’‰We use the lateral saphenous vein!
πŸ’‰Blood collection in rabbits is very safe and (most of the time) easy!
πŸ’‰If you notice on the first picture, we let the rabbit hide their face under our arm, which helps to keep them feel safe and reduce stress.
πŸ’‰The second picture is a close up of that (juicy) vessel!
πŸ‡ Like humans, rabbits should have blood work done yearly as a check up!

  • 🫰🐒 Fun fact Monday! Let's talk about snapping turtles!
🫰🐒 The small size of their shells can leave them more vulnerable than some other turtles, particularly because it leaves them unable to retract their limbs and heads into their shells like other turtles can.
🫰 🐒 Snapping turtles have changed surprisingly little in the 90 million years of their existence.
🫰🐒 While these turtles aren't usually aggressive when in the water, they can be on land. This could be because snapping turtles spend most of their time in the water, usually only coming on land during nesting season.

  • 🐒 Action shot taken by one of our clients during their visit!
🐒 Here is our Dr. P and our relief vet tech Coral preparing to collect blood from this beautiful African spurred tortoise.
🐒 As you can imagine collecting blood from a tortoise can be challenging, specially such a large strong species.
🐒 Our team is very experienced in collecting the blood from their tail vein, which we can do without sedation 99% of the time.
🐒 And don't worry, she was on that position for less than 5 minutes, so it's completely safe!
